          WHEREAS, the City of Newark wishes to enter into a Cost Reimbursement Agreement No. 2016-DT-BLA-201, termed Federal Aid Agreement, with New Jersey Department of Transportation, Division of Local Aid and Economic Development, for the Newark City-Wide Safe Routes to School Project, STP-C00S(769)CON; and

 

                     WHEREAS, as part of the Cost Reimbursement Agreement No. 2016-DT-BLA-201, all allowable costs incurred for the performance of work in the attached Scope of Work in this Cost Reimbursement Agreement shall be eligible for reimbursement from the effective date of December 17, 2015 and all such work shall be completed by December 17, 2018 for the Newark City-Wide Safe Routes to School Project, STP-C00S(769)CON; and

 

                     WHEREAS, the City of Newark wishes to appoint the Mayor and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Engineering, to act as the authorized person to execute this task Order Agreement No. 2016-DT-BLA-201 to accept the funds provided in the amount of $225,000.00 for the Newark City-Wide Safe Routes to School Project, STP-C00S(769)CON under the Basic Agreement, dated December 17, 2015.

 

                     NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

 

1.                     The Mayor and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Engineering, are hereby authorized on behalf of the City of Newark to execute Cost Reimbursement Agreement No. 2016-DT-BLA-201 to accept funds provided in the amount of $225,000.00 for the Newark City-Wide Safe Routes to School Project, STP-C00S(769)CON as per terms and conditions of the Cost Reimbursement Agreement, between the City of Newark and New Jersey Department of Transportation.

 

2.                     The Cost Reimbursement Agreement No. 2016-DT-BLA-201 is ratified from December 17, 2015 until the date of adoption of this resolution.

 

3.                     No municipal funds are required for receipt or acceptance of this grant award.

 

4.                     The Mayor and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Engineering, are hereby authorized on behalf of the City of Newark to solicit proposals/receive bids to accomplish the objectives outlined in the Cost Reimbursement Agreement No. 2016-DT-BLA-201 for the Newark City-Wide Safe Routes to School Project, STP-C00S(769)CON.

 

5.                     No work shall commence prior to the receipt and budget insertion of the grant funds from the New Jersey Department of Transportation.

 

6.                     The Director of the Department of Engineering shall file a fully-executed copy of the Cost Reimbursement Agreement No. 2016-DT-BLA-201 in the Office of the City Clerk.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

This resolution ratifies and authorizes the Mayor and his/her designee, the Director of the Department of Engineering, to execute the attached Cost Reimbursement Agreement No. 2016-DT-BLA-201 for the Newark City-Wide Safe Routes to School Project, STP-C00S(769)CON with the New Jersey Department of Transportation and accept funds provided in the amount of $225,000.00 for the Newark City-Wide Safe Routes to School Project, STP-C00S(769)CON, as per terms and conditions of the Cost Reimbursement Agreement.
