WHEREAS, the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) and the State of New Jersey, Department of Transportation (NJDOT) provides funds for Local Safety Programs; and

WHEREAS, on June 15, 2015, the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) invited the City of Newark to submit proposals for the FY 2016-2017 solicitation of the Local Safety and High Risk Rural Roads Program; and

WHEREAS, on September 1, 2015, the City of Newark, Department of Engineering submitted a proposal for the FY 2016-2017 Local Safety High Risk Rural Roads Program to the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority (NJTPA) for the Ferry Street Pedestrian Safety Corridor Improvements requesting grant funding in the amount of $2,703,000.00; and

WHEREAS, as a result of this proposal, the City of Newark was notified on February 25, 2016 by NJTPA that the City had been approved for grant funding through the FY 2016-2017 Local Safety High Risk Rural Roads Program for the Ferry Street Pedestrian Safety Corridor Improvements, in the amount of $2,703...
