NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
 
1.      The Department of Economic & Housing Development, through the Office of Boards and Commissions, Rent Control Office, Rent Regulation Officer shall commence an Amnesty program to owner(s), landlord(s), managing agent, and parties in interest who have not registered their building(s) as required by the Revised General Ordinance 19:1-1, et seq., by waiving the collection of late registration fees, and not imposing Section 19:2-19, the Violations Section,  for failing to timely register.  
 
2.      This amnesty is ratified from June 1, 2015 to the date of adoption and shall end December 31, 2015.
3.      The Rent Regulation Officer is authorized to do all things necessary to accomplish this task.
 
STATEMENT
 
This resolution ratifies and authorizes an amnesty by waiving the collection of late registration fees or enforcement of the violation provision of the Ordinance, as required by Revised General Ordinance 19:1-1, et seq.  This amnesty program commences June 1, 2015, and ends on December 31, 2015.
