          WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-E, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and

                     WHEREAS, Katie L. Anderson, a dedicated community activist and servant was the founder and longtime President of the South 17^th Street Neighborhood Block Association; and

WHEREAS, through her unwavering commitment, civic responsibility and leadership, the South 17^th Street and 19^th Avenue neighborhood is a model for community pride and stability.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

1.                     The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection at the corner of South 17^th Street and 19^th Avenue as Katie L. Anderson Way.

2.                     The name of the said streets shall remain South 17^th Street and 19^th Avenue in its entirety.

STATEMENT

This resolution hereby authorizes the naming of the intersection at the corner of South 17^th Street and 19^th Avenue as Katie L. Anderson Way, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
