AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23:5-14e, PARKING BY PERMIT ONLY IN DESIGNATED RESIDENTIAL AREAS, OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY ADDING VINE STREET, BETWEEN GOVERNOR STREET AND WEST KINNEY STREET, TO THE EXISTING PERMIT PARKING AREAS DESIGNATED LIST. WHEREAS, the residents of Vine Street have submitted a petition for Permit Parking; and

 

WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering wishes to improve parking for residents by creating Residential Permit Parking along Vine Street, between Governor Street and West Kinney Street.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

 

                     Section 1.  That Section 23:5-14e, Parking by Permit Only in Designated Residential Areas, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, be amended and supplemented by adding thereto the following:

 

                     Vine Street, Both sides, between Governor Street and West Kinney Street

                     (Hours:  24hrs. / Days:  Monday-Sunday)

     

                     Section 2.    Regulatory signs shall be erected and maintained by the City of Newark.

 

                     Section 3.  Any ordinance or parts thereof inconsistent with this ordinance are hereby repealed.

 

                     Section 4.  This ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.

 

Section 5.  This ordinance does not require approval by the Commissioner of Transportation.

 

STATEMENT

 

                     This ordinance allows the Department of Engineering to improve parking for residents by creating “Parking by Permit Only” on Vine Street, between Governor Street and West Kinney Street. (Central Ward)
