ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE, 6PSF-A(S), ADOPTED JANUARY 7, 2016, ESTABLISHING THE DEPARTMENT OF PUBLIC SAFETY, IN ORDER TO CORRECT CERTAIN COPYING FEE PROVISIONS UNDER TITLE II.

WHEREAS, on January 7, 2016, the Municipal Council of the City of Newark adopted Ordinance 6PSF-a(S) (a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof), which, among other things, eliminated the Departments of Police and Fire and established a Department of Public Safety (hereinafter sometimes referred to as "the Ordinance"); and
WHEREAS, it subsequently came to the attention of the Department of Public Safety, Police Division, that the Ordinance contained errors relative to fees charged for obtaining copies of certain police reports; and
WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Public Safety recommends that the Ordinance be amended to correct those errors.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

SECTION 1: Ordinance 6PSF-a(s) January 7, 2016, SECTION 4, Sub Section entitled "Fees Established for Certain Services," paragraph a.1, is hereby amended as follows:
a. The following fees are hereby established for certain services provided by the Division of Police or by the Office of the City Clerk on behalf of the Police Division:
1. Copies of any report or portion of any report authorized for release by the rules and regulations of the Division shall be purchased at the same fee as allowed by section 2 of N.J.S. 47:1A-2 N.J.S. 47:1A-5. Copies of motor vehicle accident reports requested other than in person, shall be purchased for the an additional fee of five ($5.00) dollars for the first three (3) pages and one ($1.00) dollar per page thereafter. (N.J.S. 39:4-131).
