WHEREAS, the City of Newark (the "City") established the position of Fire Official by Ordinance 6S&Fa(S-2) adopted on March 13, 1996 (a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof); and
WHEREAS, the Fire Official is the Officer-in-Charge of the Division of Fire Prevention and Life Safety and must be certified by the State of New Jersey Department of Community Affairs, Division of Fire Safety; and
WHEREAS, Zarifa Wilson was appointed to the position of Fire Official by Resolution 7R8-a adopted on April 6, 2016 (a copy of which is attached hereto and made a part hereof) for a minimum of ninety (90) days with a maximum of one hundred and eighty (180) days, that period having lapsed; and
WHEREAS, the Mayor and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Public Safety - Fire Division, desires to reappoint Zarifa Wilson, as Fire Official by way of this authorizing resolution effective from October 6, 2016 and for a minimum of ninety (90) days with a maximum of one hundred and eighty (180) days, reserving the right to revisit at the end of one hundred and eighty (180) days.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. Zarifa Wilson is hereby reappointed as Fire Official effective October 6, 2016, for a minimum of ninety (90) days, with a maximum of one hundred eighty (180) days.
