WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-E, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Breya Necole Knight was a noted Newark artist, activist, leader, entrepreneur and mentor who inspired a generation of residents through her uplifting poetry, songwriting, trendsetting fashion and zest for life and made tremendous contributions to the City of Newark’s cultural, economic, and social progress; and
WHEREAS, throughout Breya Necole Knight’s short life she shined on all who crossed her path and her consistent words of encouragement healed and motivated the community through many dark days through her many performances at NJPAC, Symphony Hall, McDonald’s Gospelfest and the Lincoln Park Music Festival.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection at the corner of Bleeker Street and Halsey Street as Breya Necole Knight Way.
2. The name of the said streets shall remain Bleeker Street and Halsey Street in its entirety.

This resolution hereby authorizes the naming of the intersection at the corner of Bleeker Street and Halsey Street as Breya Necole Knight Way, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
