WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-E, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
WHEREAS, Dr. John J. McMullen, known for his love of sports, brought the National Hockey League to New Jersey by bringing the NHL Colorado Rockies to the Garden State as the New Jersey Devils, and within eighteen (18) years of owning the team they won two (2) N.H.L. Championships in 1995 and 2000; and
WHEREAS, Dr. John J. McMullen is recognized for his contributions to professional hockey, the success of New Jersey Devils franchise and fostering youth hockey, which bolstered professional athletics throughout the State.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection of Lafayette Street and Mulberry Street, Dr. John J. McMullen Way.
2. The name of the said street shall remain Lafayette Street and Mulberry Street in its entirety.

This resolution hereby authorizes the naming of the intersection of Lafayette Street and Mulberry Street as Dr. John J. McMullen Way, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
