                     WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-E, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and

 

                     WHEREAS, Mr. Joseph C. DeVincentis was a lifelong resident of Newark and a very active member of the North Ward community; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. DeVincentis joined the Saint Francis Xavier School faculty of Newark in 1993, where his excellence as a math instructor and supervisor for numerous school activities earned him Teacher of the Year Recognitions for 1995 and 1996 by the Archdiocese of Newark.  In addition, he was active and very instrumental in the success of the North Ward Little League and the Saint Francis Xavier Youth Baseball League, the largest youth baseball organization in Newark; and

 

WHEREAS, Mr. DeVincentis received numerous awards and commendations from the City of Newark, for his many years of dedication and commitment to Newark’s youth and their well-being.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

                     

1.                     The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection of 4th Avenue and North 5th Street as Joseph C. DiVincentis Way.

 

2.                     The official name of the said streets shall remain in its entirety.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

This resolution hereby authorizes the naming of the intersection of 4th Avenue and North 5th Street, as Joseph C. DiVincentis Way, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
