WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-e adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
WHEREAS, Eric Bowens, affectionately known as “Uggie”, was universally known throughout the City of Newark’s social scene, was born and raised in the City of Newark where he attended and graduated from the Newark Public School System; and
WHEREAS, Uggie’s infectious laugh and spirit endeared him to all who knew him, as his impromptu street performances of Michael Jackson and Prince, delighted and thrilled the gathering crowds, who showered him with love and laughter.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection of Winans Avenue and Bergen Street as Eric “Uggie” Bowens Way.
2. The official name of the said streets shall remain Winans Avenue and Bergen Street in its entirety.

This resolution hereby authorizes the naming of the intersection of Winans Avenue and Bergen Street as Eric “Uggie” Bowens Way, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
