WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-e, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Lucas Ibrahim Marrero was a well-known business owner in the City of Newark’s Downtown District for many years, in addition to serving in the official capacity of Chaplain in the Newark Police Department; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Marrero was also well known throughout Newark’s religious community for his dedicated service in bringing together all nationalities, races and religions, to work collectively in peace and unity.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection of Branford Place and Halsey Street as Lucas Ibrahim Marrero Place.
2. The official names of the said streets shall remain the same in their entirety.

This resolution hereby authorizes the naming of the intersection of Branford Place and Halsey Street as Lucas Ibrahim Marrero Place, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
