WHEREAS, the Mayor of the City of Newark is desirous of amending the position of City Treasurer in order to promote a more efficient and effective Division of the Treasury in the Department of Finance.

WHEREAS, the Mayor and the Business Administrator believe it is in the best interests of the City of Newark to amend the position of City Treasurer.

WHEREAS, the Municipal Council of the City of Newark concur with the recommendation of the Mayor and the Business Administrator.

NOW THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

Section 1: Title Two, Administration, Chapter 7, Department Finance, Article 4, Division of the Treasury of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be and the same is amended as follows:

2:7-12.1. Director as City Treasurer. Qualifications and Compensation.
The Director of Finance shall serve as City Treasurer without additional compensation.
The City Treasurer, prior to her/his appointment, shall possess such qualifications in education, training, experience, performance and supervision, applicable to the professional level of the position. His or her compensation shall be such sum as shall be fixed by Executive Order of the Mayor.

2:7-12.2. Functions, Powers and Duties.
The City Treasurer shall have and may exercise all of the functions, powers and duties vested by ordinance in the office known as the City Treasurer. T...
