WHEREAS, on Sunday, October 15, 2017, the American Cancer Society/Making Strides of Newark will host the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of Newark 5-K Walk in Newark, New Jersey, with a gathering location at Prudential Championship Plaza; and
WHEREAS, the event has been a staple event for the City of Newark and surrounding communities for twenty years; and
WHEREAS, Making Strides of Newark is an integral part of the work that the American Cancer Society does in Newark and in the surrounding Essex County Area, uniting community, businesses and schools and health organizations for one very important cause;
WHEREAS, the Newark Municipal Council recognizes the continued involvement of Municipal Council President Mildred Crump in the organization of this event; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Municipal Council has indicated its support and declares its co-sponsorship of this wholesome event.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JESEY THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby support and co-sponsors the American Cancer Society, Making Strides against Breast Cancer 5-K Walk, to be held at Prudential Championship Plaza, on Sunday, October 15, 2017, starting at 10:00 a.m.
