                      WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-e, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and

WHEREAS, Dr. Jose Gomez Rivera has practiced medicine in the City of Newark for over 48 years. He practiced at St. James Hospital until its closure and had his private office at Summer Avenue. He still practices today in the East Ward of Newark.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

1.                     The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection of 3^rd Avenue and Summer Avenue as “Dr. Jose Gomez Rivera Way”.

2.                     The official name of the said streets shall remain 3^rd Avenue and Summer Avenue in its entirety.

This resolution hereby authorizes the naming of the intersection of 3^rd Avenue and Summer Avenue as “Dr. Jose Gomez Rivera Way”, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
