WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-e, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
WHEREAS, Jacinto Cardona was the proud owner and operator of Cardona Travel & Insurance Agency, located at 25 Bloomfield Avenue, for over 28 years. He was a prominent member of the North Ward community and contributed unselfishly towards the development of the Hispanic community.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection Bloomfield Avenue and Rowland Street as “Jacinto Cardona Way”.
2. The official name of the said streets shall remain Bloomfield Avenue and Rowland Street in its entirety.

This resolution hereby authorizes the naming of the intersection of Bloomfield Avenue and Rowland Street as “Jacinto Cardona Way”, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
