WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-e, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
WHEREAS, Eddie Cruz was a prominent philanthropist and entrepreneur who contributed to numerous organizations located throughout the City of Newark and the State of New Jersey for many years.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection Prospect Street and Lafayette Street as “Eddie Cruz Plaza”.
2. The official name of the said streets shall remain Prospect Street and Lafayette Street in its entirety.

This resolution hereby authorizes the naming of the intersection of Prospect Street and Lafayette Street as “Eddie Cruz Plaza”, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
