WHEREAS, the State of New Jersey Department of Transportation ("NJDOT") for the 2018 Safe Streets to Transit Program (SST) provides grant funding for improvements that enable and encourage walking and bicycling to transit; and

WHEREAS, the City of Newark wants to improve pedestrian access to the Broad Street Rail Station along University Avenue from Central Avenue; and

WHEREAS, the City of Newark desires to further the public interest by obtaining funding from the 2018 Safe Streets to Transit Program (SST) for upgrading and repairing sidewalks, curb ramps and making the sidewalks and ramps ADA compliant and providing adequate lighting along University Avenue from Broad Street Station to Central Avenue, Newark; and

WHEREAS, on October 4, 2017, on behalf of the City of Newark, the Director of the Department of Engineering submitted an application to the NJDOT requesting grant funding in the amount of $227,260.00 from the 2018 Safe Streets to Transit Program (SST) for upgrading and repairing sidewalks, curb ramps and making the sidewalks and ramps ADA compliant and providing adequate lighting along University Avenue from Bro...
