WHEREAS, Newark Council #21, Newark Chapter, New Jersey Civil Service Association, affiliated with IFPTE and AFL-CIO ("Newark Council #21") is a white collar and professional workers' union of over nine hundred (900) City of Newark employees, who as its exclusive collective negotiations agent, advocates on behalf of employees' rights, favorable working conditions, fair wages, and leverages positive working relationships between the employer and employees; and

WHEREAS, Newark Council #21 has pursued a fair collective bargaining agreement for over two (2) years without success, despite good faith efforts; and

WHEREAS, Newark Council #21 is an asset to City employees and a productive partner of the City of Newark; and

WHEREAS, the continued efforts of Newark Council #21 for a fair collective bargaining agreement on behalf of City employees is supported by the Newark Municipal Council.

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

1. The Newark Municipal Council supports Newark Council #21's collective bargaining efforts on behalf of City of Newark employees for a fair collective bargaining agreement.

2. A copy of this resolution shall be forwarded to the Office of Mayor, the Office of the Business Administrator, and Newark Council #21, IFPTE, AFL-CIO.
