WHEREAS, a suit was instituted in the United States District Court of New Jersey captioned Alanna L. Lawrence v. City of Newark, et al., Docket Number: 15-05481 (KM-JBC), in which the Plaintiff alleged defendant wrongfully terminated her; and committed other actionable conduct with respect to Plaintiff's employment with the City of Newark; and
WHEREAS, a proposal has been made to resolve this litigation by execution of the attached Settlement Agreement and Release and a payment to Plaintiff in the total amount of $150,000.00 (One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents); and
WHEREAS, the Acting Corporation Counsel based upon all facts and circumstances deems it is in the best interest of the City of Newark to resolve said matter by payment of the proposed Settlement Agreement.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Acting Corporation Counsel is hereby authorized on behalf of the City of Newark to execute and accept the terms of the Settlement Agreement and Release, attached hereto.
2. Upon receipt by the Acting Corporation Counsel of all documents deemed necessary, the Director of Finance is hereby authorized and directed to issue one check in the amount of $150,000.00 (One Hundred and Fifty Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents), which payment shall be made payable to "Alanna Lawrence and her attorney, Cedric Ashley", with offices located at 707 Alexander Road, Building 2, Suite 208...
