WHEREAS, the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT), has requested to amend the previous Resolution of Support 7R4-a adopted on August 3, 2011, by the City of Newark, for the McCarter Highway/Route 21 Needs Analysis Study - 4 Lane Alternative (copies of the letter and Resolution 7R4-a adopted August 3, 2011 are attached hereto and made a part of this resolution hereof); and
WHEREAS, the amendments to McCarter Highway/Route 21 Newark Needs Analysis Study - 4 Lane Alternative Project are as follows:
* Eliminate the construction of a raised median on Route 21 since that space is necessary to accommodate the northbound thru lane during the construction of the Port Authority rail project, and
* Eliminate construction of the curb and two-foot-wide border area along Route 21 northbound adjacent to the retaining wall since the curb and border materials will be damaged during construction of the Port Authority project.
