WHEREAS, an emergency has arisen in Special Item of Appropriation in the amount of $40,958.00 bringing total program resources to $1,902,777.00, for the Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) Program and no adequate provision has been made in the 2018 Temporary Budget for the aforesaid purpose and N.J.S.A. 40A:4-20 provides for the creation of an emergency appropriation for the purpose above-mentioned; and

WHEREAS, by award letter dated April 6, 2018 from the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services, the City of Newark has been awarded $40,958.00 to provide nutritional services, nutritional education, immunization screening and education, voter registration and family care enrollment through participation in New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services' Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Program to the residents of Newark; and
