WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-e, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
WHEREAS, the late Kevin J Ryan was very active in the civic and religious communities throughout the City of Newark; and
WHEREAS, Kevin J Ryan was a 26 year veteran of the Essex County Sheriff’s Department moving up through the ranks until he was promoted to the position fo Chief. He served twelve years as head of security for the Newark Archdiocese and recently provided security for The Most Holy Cardinal Joseph Todin
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection of Victoria Street and Clifton Avenue as Kevin J Ryan Way
.
2. The official name of the said streets shall remain Victoria Street and Clifton Avenue in its entirety.

This resolution hereby authorizes the naming of the intersection of Victoria Street and Clifton Avenue as Kevin J. Ryan Way for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
