WHEREAS, the City of Newark is desirous of providing venues for wholesome family events that encourages residents to come out and enjoy themselves during the summer months; and
WHEREAS, the Dominican Parade and Music Festival offers residents, particularly those of Dominican and Hispanic descent, the opportunity to enjoy a street festival featuring Dominican and Hispanic culture, food, and entertainment; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Municipal Council indicates its' support of the Dominican Parade and Music Festival, to be held on Bloomfield Avenue, between Lake Street and Seventh Avenue, on Sunday, September 2, 2018, from 12:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council hereby supports the Dominican Parade and Music Festival, to be held on Bloomfield Avenue between Lake Street and Seventh Avenue, on Sunday, September 2, 2018, from 12:00 P.M. until 10:00 P.M
2. The Municipal Council in co-sponsoring this special event waives the City of Newark's event fees and costs, however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements due to be provided by event organizers.
