WHEREAS, the City of Newark is the largest municipality in the State of New Jersey and should be represented in the North Jersey District Water Supply Commission; and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council is desirous of having a Member of the Municipal Council represent the City of Newark in the North Jersey District Water Supply Commission; and
WHEREAS, only the Governor of the State of New Jersey, with the advice and consent of the Senate, can appoint a Commissioner, who shall be a resident of the water supply district, which they represent.
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY:
1. The Municipal Council urges the Mayor to consider submitting a recommendation to the Governor to have a member of this Governing Body represent the City of Newark in the North Jersey District Water Supply Commission.
2. Council Member, Joseph A. McCallum, Jr., is hereby recommended to the Mayor, to be named the Municipal Council Representative to the North Jersey District Water Supply Commission.

This resolution hereby recommends Council Member, Joseph A. McCallum, Jr., to the Mayor as a Municipal Council Representative of the North Jersey District Water Supply Commission.
