WHEREAS, by Resolution 7R2-a, adopted on June 20, 2018, the Municipal Council authorized and directed the Mayor, and/or his designee, the Director of Economic and Housing Development, to accept a grant award of Three Hundred Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($300,000.00) from the Essex County Open Space Trust Fund and to enter into and execute a grant agreement with Essex County (the “Original Grant Agreement”) for the purpose of renovating the Wars of America Monument at Military Park, with no City funds required; and
WHEREAS, after the passage of Resolution 7R2-a June 20, 2018, but prior to the execution of the Original Grant Agreement, Essex County and the City of Newark made additional needed revisions to the Original Grant Agreement (the “Revised Grant Agreement”); and
WHEREAS, the City and Essex County wish to replace the Original Grant Agreement with the Revised Grant Agreement and have it executed instead for the purpose of accepting the grant award of Three Hundred Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($300,000.00) from the Essex County Open Space Trust Fund.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The City of Newark is hereby authorized to replace the Original Grant Agreement with the Revised Grant Agreement, in the form attached hereto as Exhibit A and made a part of this Resolution.
2. The Mayor and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Economic and Housing Development, are hereby authorized and directed to enter into and execute the Revised Grant Agreement with Essex County in the form attached as Exhibit A for the purpose of renovating the Wars of America Monument at Military Park, with no City funds required.
3. The Director of the Department of Economic and Housing Development shall file a fully-executed copy of the Revised Grant Agreement between the City of Newark and Essex County in the Office of the City Clerk.
STATEMENT
This resolution authorizes the replacement of the Original Grant Agreement with the Revised Grant Agreement, in the form attached hereto as Exhibit A to the Resolution. This resolution further authorizes the Mayor, and/or his designee, the Director of the Department of Economic and Housing Development, to enter into and execute the Revised Grant Agreement for the purpose of renovating the Wars of America Monument at Military Park.
