WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-120, the City of Newark may appoint up to fifty (50) Constables; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-121, the City of Newark may appoint a Constable for a term of three (3) years, unless the Municipal Council by its resolution of appointment fixes a one (1) year term; and
WHEREAS, the City of Newark wishes to appoint to appoint Debbra L. Fletcher to serve as a Constable for a term of three (3) years.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. Debbra L. Fletcher, 135 Sunset Avenue, Newark, New Jersey 07106, is hereby appointed as a Constable, in accordance with her application to serve civil and criminal warrants, written summonses, complaints, repossessions and lockouts.
2. Prior to carrying out duties of her office and no later than thirty (30) days after the effective date of the appointment, the aforesaid appointee shall submit a Constable Bond, which shall be approved as to form, amount, and sufficiency of Surety by resolution of the Newark Municipal Council.
3. This appointment shall be for a term of three (3) years from the date of the appointment or the expiration of the Constable Bond, whichever occurs first.
STATEMENT
This resolution hereby authorizes the appointment of Debbra L. Fletcher, 135 Sunset Avenue, Newark, New Jersey 07106, to serve as a Constable in the City of Newark for a term of three (3) years from the date of appointment or expiration of the Constable Bond, whichever occurs first.
