WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:9-120 et seq., the City of Newark is authorized to appoint up to fifty (50) Constables for a term of three (3) years, unless the Municipal Council by resolution, fixes a one (1) year term; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:9-121, the City of Newark wishes to appoint John L. Nikoe, as a Constable with a term of three (3) years.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. John L. Nikoe, of 469 Hawthorne Avenue, Newark, New Jersey 07112, is hereby appointed as a Constable, in accordance with his application to serve civil and criminal warrants, written summonses, complaints, repossessions and lockouts.
2. Prior to carrying out the duties of his office and no later than thirty (30) days after the effective date of the appointment, the aforesaid appointee shall submit a Constable Bond, which shall be approved as to form, amount, and sufficiency of Surety by resolution of the Newark Municipal Council.
3. This appointment shall be for a term of three (3) years from the date of appointment or the expiration of the Constable bond, whichever occurs first.
STATEMENT
This resolution authorizes the appointment of John L. Nikoe, of 469 Hawthorne Avenue, Newark, New Jersey 07112, to serve as a Constable in the City of Newark for a term of three (3) years from the date of the appointment or the expiration of the Constable Bond, whichever occurs first.
