WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-e, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
WHEREAS, longtime Newark resident Ms. Lorraine Edmonds, raised twelve (12) children and was a guiding force in her Seymour Avenue and Yates Avenue neighborhood. An early organizer of the Yates Avenue Block Association, Lorraine Edmonds provided love, encouragement, spiritual guidance, money and clothing for those in need.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection of Seymour Avenue and Yates Avenue as Lorraine Edmonds Way.
2. The official name of the said streets shall remain Seymour Avenue and Yates Avenue in their entirety.

This resolution hereby authorizes the naming the intersection of Seymour Avenue and Yates Avenue as Lorraine Edmonds Way, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
