WHEREAS, the City of Newark has a very large and vibrant Portuguese community, which has contributed greatly to the progress of the City through its' social, economic, and political growth; and
WHEREAS, Newark's Annual Portugal Day Parade, pays tribute to the rich cultural heritage of the Portuguese community and its' contributions to the City of Newark and the Metropolitan Area; and
WHEREAS, the Newark Municipal Council has indicated its' support of the Annual Portugal Day Parade, co-sponsored by Council Member, Augusto Amador, to be held on Ferry Street, beginning at St. Charles Street and ending at Peter Francisco Park (East Ward), on Sunday, June 9, 2019, from 12:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby support and declares co-sponsorship of the Annual Portugal Day Parade, to be held on Ferry Street, beginning at St. Charles Street and ending at Peter Francisco Park (East Ward), on Sunday, June 9, 2019, from 12:00 P.M. until 6:00 P.M.
2. The Municipal Council hereby waives the City of Newark's special event permit application fee ($250.00;however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements required to be provided by event organizers or the reimbursement of costs to the City o...
