WHEREAS, Tashan T. Brown ("Mr. Brown") has been an employee of the City of Newark, ("the City") as a firefighter from October 6, 1998 through the present; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Brown is an active member of the Police and Firemen's Retirement System (PFRS) and has twenty (20) years of PFRS Service Credit, meeting the minimum service requirement of at least four (4) years of PFRS membership; and
WHEREAS, the Director of the Department of Public Safety, based upon the opinion, advice and documentation provided by The Institute of Forensic Psychology and Clinical & Forensic Psychological Consulting Services, certifies that Mr. Brown is unable to perform his assigned duties; and
WHEREAS, the City is unable to provide an alternative to the PFRS covered position with duties capable of being performed by Mr. Brown; and
WHEREAS, the Public Safety Director has consented to the processing of the Involuntary Disability Retirement application.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Business Administrator, the Director of Public Safety and the Director of Personnel are authorized to process the Involuntary Disability Retirement application for Mr. Tashan T. Brown.
2. Certified copies of this Resolution shall be forwarded to all parties involved in the administration of this action.
