WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-e, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purpose; and
WHEREAS, Hanna Mae Mason, a lifelong Newark resident, known as “Momma Mason” was an educator and a counselor to many children of Newark Public Schools for over thirty-five (35) years, within the South Ward - from Maple Avenue to Chancellor Avenue; and
WHEREAS, she was a faithful member of Greater Abyssinian Baptist Church, Newark, New Jersey, where she helped to aid the community and feed those in need.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection of Pomona Avenue and Maple Avenue as Hanna Mason Way.
2. The official names of the said streets shall remain the same in their entirety.

This resolution authorizes the naming of the intersection of Pomona Avenue and Maple Avenue as Hanna Mae Mason Way, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
