The City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee ($50.00) for street closure will be waived.

WHEREAS, the Municipal Council is supportive of community events that provide wholesome family entertainment that allows residents the opportunity to gather and renew old acquaintances and establish new ones; and
WHEREAS, the Eastern Parkway Block Association’s Block Party sets an example for other West Ward communities on how to strengthen and improve their communities through social interactions and family gatherings; and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council has indicated its support of the Eastern Parkway Block Association’s Block Party, being held on Eastern Parkway between Cameron Road and Varsity Road, on Saturday, August 17, 2019, from 8:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby indicate its support of the Eastern Parkway Block Association’s Block Party to be held on Eastern Parkway between Cameron Road and Varsity Road, on Saturday, August 17, 2019, from 8:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M.
2. The Municipal Council is co-sponsoring this special event and waives the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee ($50.00), however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements due to be provided by event organizers or costs above service charges described in R.O. 5:10-1 et seq.
STATEMENT
This resolution supports and declares co-sponsorship by the Municipal Council of the Eastern Parkway Block Association’s Block Party, waiving the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee ($50.00), for an event to be held on Eastern Parkway between Cameron Road and Varsity Road (West Ward), on Saturday, August 17, 2019, from 8:00 A.M. until 10:00 P.M., sponsored by Councilman, Joseph A. McCallum, Jr.
