The City of Newark’s Special Event Fee ($250.00) for the street festival will be waived.

WHEREAS, the Municipal Council is supportive of community events that provide wholesome family entertainment that allows residents the opportunity to gather and renew old acquaintances and establish new ones; and
WHEREAS, the Halsey Street Festival provides the City of Newark the opportunity to present a downtown festival showcasing culture, arts, dining and more; and
WHEREAS, the Municipal Council has indicated its support of the Halsey Street Festival being held on Halsey Street from Central Avenue to New Street, in addition to, Bleeker and New Streets, between Halsey Street and Washington Street (Central Ward), on Thursday, September 19, 2019, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby indicate its support of the Halsey Street Festival, to be held on Halsey Street from Central Avenue to New Street, in addition to, Bleeker and New Streets, between Halsey Street and Washington Street (Central Ward), on Thursday, September 19, 2019, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
2. The Municipal Council is co-sponsoring this special event and waives the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Fee ($250.00), however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements due to be provided by event organizers or costs above service charges described in R.O. 5:10-1 et seq.
STATEMENT
This resolution supports and declares co-sponsorship by the Municipal Council of the Halsey Street Festival, waiving the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Fee ($250.00), for an event to be held on Halsey Street from Central Avenue to New Street, in addition to, Bleeker and New Streets, between Halsey Street and Washington Street (Central Ward), on Thursday, September 19, 2019, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., sponsored by Councilwoman LaMonica R. McIver.
