Original Resolution 7Rea(AS) adopted on August 7, 1991 established a street designation for Dr. Albert J. Lewis, Jr., named “Professor Albert Lewis Way.”
This amendment will rename the intersection of Parkview Terrace and Lyons Avenue from “Professor Albert Lewis Way”/“Dr. Albert J. Lewis, Jr. Plaza” to
“Dr. Albert J. Lewis, Jr. Way.”

WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PDF-e, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
WHEREAS, Resolution 7Rea(A.S.) adopted on August 7, 1991 by the Municipal Council, ceremoniously renamed the intersection of Parkview Terrace and Lyons Avenue ‘Professor Albert Lewis Plaza’, although the signage was changed to read “Dr. Albert J. Lewis Jr. Plaza,” for his outstanding contributions to the civic and religious fabric of the City of Newark; and
WHEREAS, Dr. Lewis has requested the ceremonial signage changed from “Dr. Albert J. Lewis Jr. Plaza” to “Dr. Albert J. Lewis, Jr. Way.”
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial re-renaming of the intersection of Parkview Terrace and Lyons Avenue from “Professor Albert Lewis Plaza”/“Dr. Albert J. Lewis Jr. Plaza” to “Dr. Albert J. Lewis, Jr. Way.”
2. The official name of said streets shall remain Parkview Terrace and Lyons Avenue in their entirety.

This resolution authorizes the ceremonial street designation re-naming of the intersection of Parkview Terrace and Lyons Avenue from “Professor Albert Lewis Plaza”/“Dr. Albert J. Lewis Jr. Plaza” to “Dr. Albert J. Lewis, Jr. Way”, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
