WHEREAS, New Jersey Transit's Bus Safety Department conducted an investigation for proposed bus stop location changes due to safety concerns; and
WHEREAS, at the request of the Department of Engineering and review of the traffic operations by New Jersey Transit in conjunction with the City of Newark, Division of Traffic and Signals and pursuant to N.J.S.A. 39:4-197(3)(a), the following described locations are added and deleted as a bus stop:
ADD BUS STOP:
1. In the Central Ward, along University Avenue, southbound on the westerly side thereof:
a. James Street, farside
Beginning at the southerly curb line of James Street and extending 140ft southerly therefrom.
DELETED BUS STOP:
2. In the Central Ward, along University Avenue, southbound on the westerly side thereof:
a. James Street, nearside
Beginning at the northerly curb line of James Street and extending 105ft northerly therefrom.
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. Section 39:4-197(3)(a) of Title 39 of the Revised Statutes of New Jersey, a municipality may by ordinance, resolution or regulation designate, relocate or delete a bus stop.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. In the Central Ward the following described location is hereby relocated as a bus stop:
From: Along University Avenue southbound on the westerly side at James Street nearside location.
Beginning at the northerly curb line of James Street and extending 105ft northerly therefrom.
