WHEREAS, the City of Newark (the "City") has a need to provide Animal Shelter Management Services for its injured, trapped and sick animals and animals whose lives are endangered or animals that are a danger to human beings; and
WHEREAS, the City desires to provide animal sheltering and impoundment services in order to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the citizens of the City of Newark pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:48-2; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40:48-5.1 the City desires to enter into a contract for the period of January 1, 2020 through December 31, 2024, in an amount not to exceed Six Million, Nine Hundred Fifty-Five Thousand Four Hundred Seventy-Six Dollars and Zero Cent ($6,955,476.00); and
WHEREAS, pursuant to N.J.A.C. 5:30-5.5 et seq., this contract is subject to the availability and appropriation of sufficient funds annually; and
