WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PDF-e, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of a street intersection for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Willie Rowe was a proud, longtime Newark resident and community activist who endeared himself to this close-knit West Ward community through his commitment and unwavering desire to make his neighborhood the most desirable area to live in.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council hereby authorizes the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection of Ellery Avenue and Ivy Street as “Willie Rowe Way”.
2. The official name of the said streets shall remain Ellery Avenue and Ivy Street in their entirety.
