WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PDF-e, adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc., for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
WHEREAS, Michael W. Clegg was born on September 11, 1966 in Newark, New Jersey, in his early years Grumman Avenue in Newark/Hillside was his residence and always home. He graduated from Hillside High School and continued his college education at Virginia Military Institute; and
WHEREAS, Michael W. Clegg, for twenty-seven (27) years committed his life’s work to the Department of Public Safety, Division of Police and the Bronze Shields. He later moved to Plainfield, New Jersey and attended the House of Prayer Episcopal Church.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal council hereby authorizes the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection of Maple Avenue and Grumman Avenue as “Michael W. Clegg Way.”
2. The official name of the said street shall remain Maple Avenue and Grumman Avenue in their entirety.

This resolution authorizes the renaming of the intersection of Maple Avenue and Grumman Avenue as “Michael W. Clegg Way”, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
