AN ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTION 23:7-13, METER RATES OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY INCREASING THE METER RATES.

WHEREAS, the Division of Traffic and Signals and the Newark Parking Authority desires to increase the meter rates in Zone 1, Zone 2, and Zone 3 by charging one quarter ($0.25) for ten (10) minutes of parking (affecting all City Wards); and
WHEREAS, the increase in the meter rates will improve traffic flow and encourage parking space turnover for business, customers, and visitors.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, THAT:

Section 1. That Section 23:7-13, Meter Rates, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, be amended by increasing the meter rates as follows:
Zone 1. All the streets in the central business district as defined in Section 23:1-1, excluding therefrom those streets or portions thereof enumerated in Sections 23:5-4 and 23:5-5, the rates shall be as follows:
One Quarter 15 minutes 10 minutes
Two Quarters 30 minutes 20 minutes
Three Quarters 45 minutes 30 minutes
Four Quarters 60 minutes 40 minutes
Five Quarters 50 minutes
Six Quarters 60 minutes
Seven Quarters 70 minutes
Eight Quarters 80 minutes
Nine Quarters 90 minutes
Ten Quarters 100 minutes
Eleven Quarters 110 minutes
Twelve Quarters 120 minutes
Zone 2.
a. For those streets or portions thereof, where parking is limited to two (2) hours 1 hour, as enumerated in Section 23:5-4, the rates shall be as follows:
