AN ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 23, TRAFFIC AND PARKING, SECTION 23:5-1, PARKING PROHIBITED AT ALL TIMES, OF THE REVISED GENERAL ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED, BY PROHIBITING PARKING AT ALL TIMES FOR A PORTION OF THE WESTERLY SIDE OF NEVADA STREET BETWEEN COURT STREET AND WEST KINNEY STREET. WHEREAS, the Department of Engineering desires to revise Section 23:5-1, Parking Prohibited at all Times, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, by adding No Parking restrictions on a portion of the westerly side of Nevada Street between Court Street and West Kinney Street to better improve sight distance, safety, and alleviate traffic congestion on Nevada Street as requested by the City of Newark Engineering Department, in the Central Ward.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
Section 1. That Section 23:5-1, Parking Prohibited at all Times, of Title 23, Traffic and Parking, of the Revised General Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, be amended and supplemented by adding thereto the following:
Nevada Street, west side, beginning at the Westerly curbline of Court Street East and extending 309 feet southerly therefrom
Section 2. Regulatory signs shall be erected and maintained by the City of Newark.
Section 3. Any ordinance or parts thereof inconsistent with this Ordinance are hereby repealed.
Section 4. This Ordinance shall take effect upon final passage and publication and in accordance with the laws of the State of New Jersey.
Section 5. This Ordinance does not require approval by the Commissioner of Transportation.
