On March 16, 2022, on behalf of the City of Newark, the Director of the Department of Engineering submitted an application to the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities requesting grant funding in the amount of $25,000.00 from the Community Energy Plan Grant Program for developing sustainable strategies that increase clean energy production, reduce energy use, and cut emission. No City funds are required.

WHEREAS, the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) has created a Community Energy Plan Grant program for municipalities to develop a community energy plan to meet the goals of the State's Energy Master Plan; and
WHEREAS, the Community Energy Plan Grant Program will help the City of Newark to plan for and invest in renewable energy and to work towards a better environment for all residents by using the State's Energy Master Plan (EMP) as a guide to develop sustainable strategies that increase clean energy production, reduce energy use, and cut emission; and
