WHEREAS, Newark Liberty International Airport is owned by the City of Newark; and

WHEREAS, airport service workers at Newark Liberty International Airport are also residents of the City of Newark; and

WHEREAS, many airport workers at Newark Liberty International Airport provide valuable services to the City of Newark; and

WHEREAS, many airport service workers at Newark Liberty International Airport were essential workers, who put their lives at risk during the depths of the COVID-19 pandemic; and

WHEREAS, airport service workers at Newark Liberty International Airport, the Airport and the City of Newark, have benefitted from the establishment of minimum wage and benefit standards through the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey's Wage Policy and through the Healthy Terminals Act; and

WHEREAS, airport service workers at Newark Liberty International Airport, the Airport and the City of Newark would benefit from the adoption of minimum wage and benefit standards at other airports and airlines.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

1. Airlines operating at Newark Liberty International Airport should sign the "Good Jobs, Good Airports Pledge."

2. Airlines operating at Newark Liberty International Airport should seek to fulfill the pledges outlined in the "Good Jobs, Good Airports Pledge" by providing their direct and subcontracted service workforce with higher wages, qu...
