WHEREAS, Ordinance 6PSF-f adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and
WHEREAS, Victor Ruben Figueroa, a longtime Newark resident, philanthropist and proud Newarker, was an internationally known Latino guitarist and acclaimed musician, who played with many great performers during his lifetime, including his favorite, the legendary Hispanic guitarist, Yomo Toro; and
WHEREAS, Victor Ruben Figueroa, who was very active in the Newark Hispanic community provided his musical talents to numerous organizations and individuals whenever they needed assistance in community fundraising efforts or raising the profile of events with his presence and performance.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
1. The Municipal Council does hereby authorize the honorary and ceremonial renaming of the intersection of Park Avenue and Clifton Avenue as “Victor Ruben Figueroa Way”.
2. The official name of the said streets shall remain Park Avenue and Clifton Avenue in their entirety.

This Resolution authorizes the naming of the intersection of Park Avenue and Clifton Avenue as “Victor Ruben Figueroa Way”, for honorary and ceremonial purposes.
