AN ORDINANCE AMENDING THE APPENDIX 23:A SCHEDULE OF PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS - VIOLATIONS BUREAU, NEWARK MUNICIPAL COURT OF TITLE 23, TRAFFIC, OF THE REVISED ORDINANCES OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, 2000, AS AMENDED AND SUPPLEMENTED BY INCREASING PENALTIES FOR PARKING VIOLATIONS.

WHEREAS, traffic violations impact safety and quality of life of the City and increased penalties can serve as a deterrent to this behavior; and
WHEREAS, the Business Administrator believes that it is in the best interest of the City of Newark to increase penalties associated with parking offenses to deter behavior and improve both safety and quality of life for residents of the City; and
WHEREAS, the increase represents a rate consistent with N.J.S.A. 39:4-203; and
WHEREAS, the level of increase represents a rate that more closely corresponds with rates in other urban areas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

Section 1: Appendix 23:A Schedule of Penalties for Violations - Violations Bureau, Newark Municipal Court, of Title 23, Traffic, of the Revised Ordinances of the City of Newark, New Jersey, 2000, as amended and supplemented, are hereby amended to adjust the following penalties, under Section I Traffic Section, subsection 1. Designated Offenses:
