WHEREAS, the Municipal Council is supportive of community events that provide wholesome family entertainment and education that allows residents the opportunity to gather and renew old acquaintances and establish new ones; and

WHEREAS, South 16^th Street Block Party will provide the City of Newark the perfect opportunity to celebrate the growth of the West Ward and West Side areas, Back-to-School and business for residents and families; and

WHEREAS, the Municipal Council has indicated its support of the South 16^th Street Block Party, to be held at 529 South 16^th Street between 15^th Avenue and 16^th Avenue, on Saturday, August 27, 2022, from 11:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

1.                     The Municipal Council does hereby indicate its support of the South 16^th Street Block Party, to be held at 529 South 16^th Street between 15^th Avenue and 16^th Avenue, on Saturday, August 27, 2022, from 11:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M,

2.                     The Municipal Council is co-sponsoring this special event and waives the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee of Fifty Dollars and Zero Cents ($50.00), however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements due to be provided by event organizers or costs above service charges described in R.O. 5:10-1 et seq.

STATEMENT

This Resolution supports and declares co-sponsorship by the Municipal Council of the South 16^th Street Block Party, waiving the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee of ($50.00), for an event to be held at 529 South 16^th Street between 15^th Avenue and 16^th Avenue, (West Ward), on Saturday, August 27, 2022, from 11:00 A.M. until 8:00 P.M., sponsored by Council Member, Dupre’ L. Kelly.
