The City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee of $50.00 for street closure shall be waived.

WHEREAS, the Municipal Council is supportive of community events that provide wholesome family entertainment and education that allows residents the opportunity to gather and renew old acquaintances and establish new ones; and

 

WHEREAS, the Jacob Street Back-to-School Party provides the residents of the City of Newark the perfect opportunity to collaborate with various support groups and organizations, families and friends; and

 

WHEREAS, the Municipal Council has indicated its support of the Jacob Street Back-to-School Block Party, to be held at Jacob Street between 16th Avenue and Springfield Avenue on Saturday, August 27, 2022 (Rain Date: Saturday, September 3, 2022)  from the hours of 12:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

 

1.                     The Municipal Council does hereby indicate its support of the Jacob Street Back-to-School Block Party, to be held at Jacob Street  between 16th Avenue and Springfield Avenue (Central Ward), on Saturday, August 27, 2022 (Rain Date: Saturday, September 3, 2022), from the hours of 12:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M.

 

2.                     The Municipal Council is co-sponsoring this special event and waives the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee of Fifty Dollars and Zero Cents ($50.00), however, it does not waive insurance coverage requirements due to be provided by event organizers or costs above service charges described in R.O. 5:10-1 et seq.

 

 

STATEMENT

 

This Resolution supports and declares co-sponsorship by the Municipal Council of the Jacob Street Back-to-School Block Party, waiving the City of Newark’s Special Event Permit Application Fee of ($50.00), for an event to be held at Jacob Street between 16th Avenue  and Springfield Avenue (Central Ward), on Saturday, August 27, 2022, from the hours of 12:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. (Rain Date: Saturday, September 3, 2022), sponsored by Council President, LaMonica R. McIver.
