Amending Resolution 7R5-b adopted on October 5, 2022, which accepted a grant amount of $210,000.00 to increase the grant amount by $393,647.00 for a total grant amount of $603,647.00.

 WHEREAS, the Department of Health and Community Wellness provides immunization services to increase immunization coverage levels for children and adults through the Immunization Action Plan/Project Vaccinate Program in the City of Newark; and

 

WHEREAS, the New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH), Vaccine Preventable Disease Program, has made additional funds available for the provision of such services through the Immunization 2023 Grant; and

 

WHEREAS, on May 5th, 2022, on behalf of the City of Newark, the Acting Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness (the “City”), submitted an application to the State of New Jersey Department of Health - Vaccine Preventable Disease Program (Immunization 2023), P.O. Box 369, Trenton, New Jersey 08625, requesting grant funding in the amount of Two Hundred and Ten Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($210,000.00), for the continued provision of Immunization Project Vaccinate Program for immunization service delivery, vaccine storage and handling, community outreach and case management for children (a copy of the application is attached here to and made a part hereof); and

 

WHEREAS, on October 5, 2022, the Municipal Council adopted Resolution 7R5-b, which ratified and authorized the Mayor of the City of Newark and/or his designee, the Acting Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness, to accept grant funds in the amount of Two Hundred and Ten Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($210,000.00) from the NJDOH; and

 

WHEREAS, as on October 6, 2022, NJDOH notified Department of Health and Community Wellness of additional funds in the amount of Three Hundred Ninety-Three Thousand Six Hundred Forty-Seven Dollars and Zero Cents ($393,647.00), for the immunization program for the period commencing July 1, 2022 through June 30, 2023 (a copy of NJDOH Notice of Grant Award is attached hereto and made a part hereof); and

 

WHEREAS, the City of Newark, Department of Health and Community Wellness, desires to accept the additional funds in the amount Three Hundred Ninety-Three Thousand Six Hundred Forty-Seven Dollars and Zero Cents ($393,647.00); and

 

WHEREAS, the City recognizes that the NJDOH, Vaccine Preventable Disease Program, may extend the time of the Grant Award and/or provide additional funds, if made available; and

 

WHEREAS, the NJDOH, Vaccine Preventable Disease Program, will amend the grant to reflect the extension of the grant period and/or increase or decrease additional funds, if made available

 

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:

 

1.                     The Mayor of the City of Newark and/or his designee, the Acting Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness, are hereby authorized to accept additional funds in the amount of Three Hundred Ninety-Three Thousand Six Hundred Forty-Seven Dollars and Zero Cents ($393,647.00), from the NJDOH, Vaccine Preventable Disease Program, for the Immunization 2023 Grant to continue support of the immunization program.

 

2.                     The Municipal Council hereby ratifies it’s the acceptance of additional funds from July 1, 2022 to the date of adoption of this authorizing Resolution.

 

3.                     The grant award in the amount of Three Hundred Ninety-Three Thousand Six Hundred Forty-Seven Dollars and Zero Cents ($393,647.00) from the NJDOH, Vaccine Preventable Disease Program, is hereby accepted.

 

4.                     The Municipal Council hereby ratifies the acceptance of this grant award from July 1, 2022 to the date of adoption of this authorizing Resolution.

 

5.                     No municipal funds are required for receipt or acceptance of this grant award.

 

 

STATEMENT

This Resolution ratifies and authorizes the Mayor of the City of Newark and or/his designee, the Acting Director of the Department of Health and Community Wellness, to amend Resolution 7R5-b adopted October 5, 2022 to accept additional funds in the amount of Three Hundred Ninety-Three Thousand Six Hundred Forty-Seven Dollars and Zero Cents  ($393,647.00) from the NJDOH, Vaccine Preventable Disease Program, to continue support of the immunization program for the period commencing July 1, 2022 and terminating June 30, 2023. No municipal funds are required for receipt or acceptance of the grant award.
