WHEREAS, Resolution 7R1-a (s) adopted on August 16, 2022, by the Municipal Council authorized the Purchasing Agent, QPA, to enter into and execute a contract with Slade Industries Inc., 1101 Bristol Road, Mountainside, New Jersey 07004 to provide Maintenance and Repair: Elevators not to exceed One Million Two Hundred Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($1,200,000.00) for a period not to exceed twenty-four (24) consecutive months pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:11-15; and
WHEREAS, Slade Industries Inc. notified the Division of Central Purchasing stating that they could not proceed with terms of the contract due to the nature of the City’s elevators; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Administration, Division of Central Purchasing wishes to rescind Resolution 7R1-a (s) adopted on August 16, 2022 and terminate the contract with Slade Industries Inc., 1101 Bristol Road, Mountainside, New Jersey 07004; and
WHEREAS, it is in the best interest of the City of Newark to substantially revise the specifications prior to soliciting proposals.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
Resolution 7R1-c adopted on by the Municipal Council awarding a contract to Slade Industries Inc., 1101 Bristol Road, Mountainside, New Jersey, 07004 at an amount not to exceed One Million Two Hundred Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($1,200,000.00) for a period not to exceed twenty-four (24) consecutive months pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:11-15 is hereby rescinded and null and void.
STATEMENT
This resolution rescinds Resolution 7R1-a (s) adopted on August 16, 2022 for the award of a contract to Slade Industries Inc., 1101 Bristol Road, Mountainside, New Jersey, 07004, to provide Maintenance and Repair: Elevators for the Department of Public Works, Division of Public Buildings, at an amount not to exceed One Million Two Hundred Thousand Dollars and Zero Cents ($1,200,000.00) for a period not to exceed twenty-four (24) consecutive months pursuant to N.J.S.A. 40A:11-15 due to Slade Industries Inc. representation that they could not proceed with terms of the contract due to the nature of the City’s elevators.
