Whereas, Ordinance 6PSF-f adopted on May 20, 2015, authorizes the designation of an intersection, etc. for honorary and ceremonial purposes; and

WHEREAS, Alejandro "Alex" Rosa, Jr. was born October 3, 1964 in San Sebastian, Puerto Rico and at the early age of five (7) immigrated to Newark, New Jersey; and

WHEREAS, a proud graduate of Barringer High School and a devoted "car enthusiast and aficionado", "Alex" attended Lincoln Tech seeking a career in auto mechanics before changing course. Deeply community-minded and concerned resident, he joined the Newark Police Department as a member of the 1995 Class 102, the City's largest recruitment class at that time; and

WHEREAS, during his long and distinguished career, Police Officer Rosa, was a "Cop's Cop", his attitude, commitment and selfless service to the Newark community he so beloved, is a testament to the countless number of Police officers who joined the ranks of the Newark Police Department as a direct result of his efforts, including his son and five (5) nephews.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE MUNICIPAL COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF NEWARK, NEW JERSEY, THAT:
